Note: 

inspired equally by the French Cubists, Tuscan landscape and British Modernist artists of St. Ives, such as Ben Nicholson and John Wells, Bryan Ingham developed a unique visual language that reflected his deep feeling for the natural world. 1991 was an important year for the artist, with exhibitions including 'Bryan Ingham: Paintings and Reliefs' at the Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery, where the artist had exhibited since 1988. The catalogue including a text by Bryan Robertson, the highly influential director of the Whitechapel Gallery in the 1950s and 60s. An oil on board from 1989 (14.4 x 20.3 cm) under the same title as the present lot was included in the 1991 exhibition.

The artist's work is in UK public collections including the Victoria Art Gallery, Bath, The Guildhall Gallery, London and the Arts Council Collection
