Henry & Joyce Collins, 'Marble Arch'
Henry & Joyce Collins (British, 1910 – 1994, 1912 – 2004 respectively)
Marble Arch
Acrylic and PVA on canvas laid down on board
Signed, inscribed and dated ‘Marble Arch – London – 1851’ (lower middle), ‘Henry & Joyce Collins, 1981’ (lower right)
24 x 36 in. (61 x 91.5 cm.)
Henry & Joyce Collins made a whole series depicting London landmarks around this period. We recently sold a similar work of the Post Office Tower to the Science Museum for their permanent collection. Henry & Joyce Collins are probably better known for their modernist sculpted relief murals which are in many buildings throughout the south.
